Bob Butler, LCSW

Uncertain about starting therapy, but know you could use it? You’ll achieve visible change with my short-term therapy approach, or find a deep healing using the Internal Family Systems model.

My goal is simple: to help you reach your goal. With an active, practical, and goal-oriented approach, I blend more than 30 years of professional experience with personal presence grounded in compassion and understanding to help you get what you want out of life.

You can benefit from short-term therapy in Sonoma County and beyond.

Work with me in person in Sonoma County, or online from across California.

Together, we’ll talk through questions including:

  • What do you want in your life?
  • What’s important to you?
  • What’s getting in the way?
  • And what steps can you take right now?

Short-term therapy is focused and goal-oriented and provides you with practical tools and skills to move forward.

Using a positive, strength-based approach, I can help you trust your inner wisdom and capabilities and find actionable steps to overcome the obstacles you face.

You may prefer a more in-depth approach with Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS)

IFS is a gentle, evidence-based approach that helps you understand that different “parts” of yourself have different moods, motives and histories, and can sometimes feel at odds. In IFS, we learn to listen to these parts with curiosity and compassion, helping to uncover your inner strengths, heal past wounds, and make choices aligned with your true self. IFS provides a practical framework to create meaningful, lasting change.
